Summer Trips

We’ve got two really great trips planned for this Summer.  Up first is The Hills Retreat where we will be heading down to Hocking Hills State Park for a few days of camping, hiking, swimming and more.  This great trip is only going to cost $85 and that includes almost everything you’ll need for the trip.  What’s even better about this trip is that we’re even extending a deal to your friends if they want to go.  If you bring a friend that doesn’t go to Cross of Christ they only pay $50!  This is one of my favorite places to visit so be sure to check out The Hills Retreat page up above to find out more about this incredible trip.

Our second trip of the summer is called Adventure Michigan.  We’ll start by heading over to Muskegon, Mi and setting up camp.  Then we’ll spend a day at Michigan’s Adventure Amusement Park and the Silver Lake Sand Dunes.   We’re only able to take a smaller group on this trip so be sure to sign up early if you’re interested in joining us!

If you haven’t checked out each of these trips pages yet, head on over there.  You’ll get info on the trip, some pictures, and we’ve even posted the Registration Flyers online for you already!  So grab a flyer fill it out and turn it in to reserve your spot.

*** For those students currently in 8th Grade we will allow them to choose between both elevate78 trips and the High School Ministry trips this summer.  That means they have more trip options than anyone else.  For more info on the High School Trips head over to the High School Ministry page.

Confirmation Service Hours

If you need some extra Confirmation service hours we’ve got a few great opportunities coming up for you.

First, on January 16th you can stop by the church at 9:00am to help take down the Christmas Decorations.  You’ll be taking everything down and putting it back into storage for the next 11 months.  There will be some light snacks before we get started and you should be done around lunch time.

Second, on February 7th after the 10:30am service there will be a special anniversary luncheon here at the church for anyone. We’re going to need some extra help putting all the tables and chairs away after lunch.  Stop by, hang out, and then get some service hours in.  Lunch should be done by 1pm and we will finish around 1:30pm.  For every person that helps out we’re going to offer 2 hours of service time for this little block of helping to clean up.

*** The above has been canceled due to the cancellation of the Celebration Service in February.

Third, the church is looking for some new Ushers to help out during the service.  You’ll collect the offering, help count people, and help with communion.  This is a great responsibility and is open to any of you!  All you have to do is talk to Pat and he will forward on your name and info to the leaders of this group.  You’ll be placed on the schedule and get to help out as much as you want!

*** Fourth, Beth Kalusniak is looking for some help with light office work.  If you’re interested let me know and I will have Beth contact you ASAP (or you can always ask her yourself).

Don’t forget that you need to complete a total of 35 hours of service this year so keep looking for those opportunities and let me know if you need some help!

A New Site

We’ve been working on not only creating a new website but also a new identity for our ministry to 7th & 8th Graders at Cross of Christ.  We wanted to make sure that whatever we did, it was clear that we work with students in just these two grades.  What we came up with was Elevate78 or Elevate Seventy-Eight.  It fits pretty nicely into what we’re doing here at Cross of Christ.  We will soon be unveiling a new class for students in Grades 7 & 8 called Elevate, and to just name our group that really made a lot of sense.  So there you have it, a new website, a new name, and a whole lot more to come.

Let me explain what we’ve got available with this new site.  In many ways this is much more like a Blog (kind of like an online journal) than it is a website.  We’ve made this choice purposely.  Our home page is now a place that we can constantly update both parents and students with what we are planning, preparring, changing, etc.  We can post from anywhere and highlight things much better with this format.  We’ve still got information on all of our upcoming trips, events, and classes available for you through the pages at the top.  You can click any of those buttons and get a page dedicated just to those specific headings.

Our hope is to continue to evolve this space into a place that we can more easily communicate with you (whether you are a parent or a student) and keep you up to date on anything that is happening within Elevate78 here at Cross of Christ!  You can even leave questions and comments on this portion of our new website (we need to approve them before they show up).  So stay tuned, check back often (you can even RSS Feed us… if you know what that is), and we will keep the information rolling out!

PS – If you want to get back here, just click the words “Elevate78″ at the top.
